Q&A: Is it possible my World Geography textbook is radically liberal?

July 30th, 2010 at 17:58

Question by : Is it possible my World Geography textbook is radically liberal?
Ok, maybe not radically, but it seems really liberal. It says a lot of stuff about Global Warming being true and how some things are contributing to it. It has never mentioned global warming being a theory; it says quote “These methods of farming are destructive to the environment and contribute to global warming.” It also condemns oil and natural gas, and it praises those who use solar power as a “more clean and efficient energy source.” I live in Texas, and we are all very Republican here. I’m not making accusations that liberals are trying to brainwash us, but this seems like a rather liberal book.

Liberal? Since when is the truth liberal? Global warming will be the end of us all if we do not stop doing things the same way. Solar is better than oil or gas in so many ways, one of which is that it IS cleaner. So I do not agree with you at all.

  1. Actions have consequences Says:

Any book reflects the bias of it’s author. Ity’s the job of your local school district to decide which textbooks they choose to use, and they have apparently decided that this liberla bias you see is either not there, or agrees with local attitudes.

  2. semiserene Says:

These are true statements, so I don’t think the book is “radically liberal.” And don’t assume that “we are all very Republican here.” One of my biggest complaints about the Texas public school system is that it’s very politically conservative and that it encourages a Republican agenda. I’m trying to teach my children to think for themselves and to be Independents, not to parrot ANY party line!
